In this article author discusses an adequacy of the typical textbooks to actual state of scientific disciplines, particularly the practice of inquiry and objectives training. Author offers conditions for improving quility of textbooks for higher education. As an example, he analyzes one of the textbook (Tolochek V.A. Labor psychology.- SPb .: Piter, 2017).
