Personnel motivation is simultaneously one of the most studied concepts in science, but at the same time one of the most ambiguous. In this scientific work, its authors reveal the features of the interpretation of the term «motivation» in the works of modern foreign and domestic researchers, and its interpretation is given in the framework of economic science, management, philosophy and psychology.
The authors of the article emphasize at the same time that the motivation, an exclusively individual phenomenon, describing the internal state of an individual. Along with this, the paper presents a brief classification of the main (basic) theories of motivation
