THE POTENTIAL OF THE DECOLONIAL TURN IN SOCIOLOGY: MAIN RESEARCH DIRECTIONS AND ARGUMENTS AGAINST

The article examines the potential of the decolonial turn in sociology, its main characteristics, and the arguments of its supporters and opponents. The authors conclude that the reasons for the crisis of decolonial studies lie in the fact that the «decolonial optics» has brought virtually nothing new to the development of methods and principles of sociological knowledge. Therefore, the main factor in the development of the project of global sociology is not the rise of decolonial sociology, but the internal crisis of Western epistemology, which is being torn apart for purely political and managerial reasons, while projects in the spirit of post-Western sociology are being developed in the same West and are so far remain only barely emerging.
