The article discusses the work of I. Sreznevsky and A. Tikhmenev published in Saratov printable teaching period of N.G. Chernyshevsky school. These publications represent a valuable material for the study of the views of the writer, shed light on the problem of the relationship N. G. Chernyshevsky to the folklore-ethnographic movement of the early 50-ies of the XIX century.
