Kognitive Approach on the Study of Synonyms in the Legal Discourse

The article is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of lexical synonymy in the popular legal English discourse. In their linguistic research the authors use a cognitive approach which is relevant in the context of a new scientific, cognitive discursive paradigm. The definitions of the basic linguistic concepts are analyzed to specify their definitions in the modern linguistics. Special attention is drawn to the principal of equivalence and difference of lexical meanings of synonyms in the process of their study.
