Representation of gender stereotypes in English language paroemias

The article presents a study of gender factor in paroemias of English language. Existing in the society gender stereotypes have an impact on all spheres of public life. The peculiarities of gender in linguistics show the dominant position of male forms, which implies linguistic asymmetry. The analysis of paroemias in English language revealed a tendency to androcentricity and stereotypically negative connotation of female characteristics. It is necessary to use paremias in everyday speech cautiously to contribute to the creation of a conflict-free communicative field.
