English-language Internet memes and the specifics of their translation into Russian

The article deals with the linguistic complexity of the translation of English-language memes. The author presents the concept of a meme and the main criteria for classifying memes. The cultural prerequisites for the emergence of memes and the specifics of their distribution are noted. Using the example of English-language memes, the features of their translation into Russian in the context of the cultural code of Western society are revealed.
