THE TRANSLATION OF THE TITLES OF PAINTINGS BY RUSSIAN ARTISTS INTO ENGLISH FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF LANGUAGE AND CULTURE

The paper is devoted to the ways of understanding culturonyms as well as the ways of translating the titles of Russian paintings into English and the problem of preserving their national and cultural component. The titles of Russian paintings, while appealing to both universal and national cultural values, contain culturally marked vocabulary related to the Russian history, folklore, and everyday life. The article also deals with the problems of conveying the meaning of the titles because of the differences in the language systems.
