LANGUAGE PORTRAIT OF US PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP IN POLITICAL DISCOURSE

The article examines the linguistic portrait of US President Donald Trump in political discourse. It is noted that public speech is an effective tool of influence, allowing the president/presidential candidate to show leadership and eloquence when addressing representatives of different social groups. It has been revealed that the language of a politician reflects the characteristics of a certain historical stage in the development of society, a nation, a country, socio-political and cultural changes, including his own views, political ideas, personal life and social experience. It is concluded that the main features of D. Trump’s linguistic portrait are expressiveness and figurativeness of statements through the creation of vivid images, the desire to create an image of a fair politician, favorable comparison of oneself with other politicians, the use of repetitions, gradations, antitheses, comparisons, and metaphors.
