The article is devoted to the problem of actualization in the poetics of the epic novel by M.A. Sholokhov "And Quiet Flows the Don" of the traditions of L.N. Tolstoy's psychologism. The analysis of such artistic means as portrait, landscape sketches, poetic and stylistic details including color and sound images allows us to conclude that the inner world of Sholokhov's characters is presented in accordance with the specifics of the psychological analysis developed by L.N. Tolstoy.
