SPECIFICS OF MILITARY TERMINOLOGICAL VOCABULARY FUNCTIONING IN THE MODERN WORLD (ON THE EXAMPLE OF MILITARY EQUIPMENT AND WEAPONS NOMINATIONS IN ENGLISH AND RUSSIAN)

This article discusses the specifics of the functioning of the main conceptual categories of special military terminology vocabulary in the modern Russian and English information discourse. The cognitive vector of interpretation made it possible to combine general scientific and linguistic research methods – methods of analysis, systematization, descriptive and interpretive, a categorization method, logical comparison and a derivational method, the use of which made it possible to solve the problem. The role and functions of metaphor in the process of terminological derivation in the information discourse of the integrative military field of knowledge have been identified. It was concluded that one of the current types of terminological modeling in the language of mass communication military discourse is the semantic-metaphorical modeling.
