The article analyzes the specifics of the development and transition to new media of traditional media, which has been updated in the modern period and is a prerequisite for their subsequent development. It is especially emphasized that despite the obvious strengths of new media (for example, technology, interactivity, etc.), in the context of traditional media, a number of other advantages remain (in particular, the objectivity and clarity of published information, a lower level of subjectivity, the presence of an educational component, etc. ), which determines the potential for their promising development. Currently, the majority of the world's inhabitants are using the capabilities of new media. The reasons for the high rate of their spread and popularity are various aspects: the rapid improvement of technological development, the permanent expansion of spaces provided by access to the Global Network, the development of innovative devices designed for broadcasting online content, etc. As a conclusion, the author formulates a conclusion about the availability of worthy competitive confrontation between traditional media at the current stage of formation of the information environment and new media.
