This study is based on the current challenges and opportunities in the field of art education, with a particular focus on the unique role of museums as educational platforms. Museums not only house vast collections of artwork but also provide tangible, real-world learning environments that play a significant role in developing students' skills in art criticism and appreciation. The aim of this study is to explore how museums can effectively contribute to the development of students' self-directed learning abilities. Through field observations and in-depth interviews, the positive impact of the museum environment on students' learning behavior, skills, and attitudes was identified. The study revealed that immersive learning in a museum setting stimulates students' curiosity and desire to explore, which in turn fosters active and deep learning. Moreover, the research emphasizes the central role of self-directed learning in teaching art appreciation and criticism, offering several pedagogical strategies and recommendations to enhance the practice of art education and support the comprehensive development of students.
