The article examines the main directions and trends of the Russian Enlightenment. In the history of Russian thought, the 18th century is marked by the widespread dissemination of the ideas of the New Age. The focus was not so much on the problems of transcendental being as on the real world and human existence associated with it. The Russian Enlightenment is a transformation in the history of Russian culture of science, the process of cognition itself, since the result of this era is the secularization of consciousness, the desacralization of power, the formation of a new literary language, and an appeal to the national past. Russian enlighteners of the 18th century, placing the problem of man at the center of their research and actions, solve it as a complex one.
