LINGUISTIC, PRAGMATIC, AND AXIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF RUSSIAN-LANGUAGE MATERIALS ABOUT L. SLUTSKY AS A COACH OF CHINESE FOOTBALL CLUB

The paper analyses linguistic, pragmatic, axiological characteristics of publications in the Russian-language sports mass-media about L. Slutsky as a coach of the Chinese football club. At the pragmatic level a strategy of constructing the coach’s image is singled out. This strategy is realised through the following tactics: exaggeration, rhetorical exclamation, glorification, metaphorization, implementation of ethnic stereotypes. At the axiological level the value dominants are human qualities, professionalism, and dedication to the profession of L. Slutsky. Anti-values are the desire to earn a lot of money, a negative attitude towards Russian coaches in unfriendly countries.
