THE ORTHODOX AND CATHOLIC CLERGY OF THE LOWER VOLGA REGION IN THE POLITICAL LIFE OF 1905-1907 (BASED ON THE MATERIALS OF THE PERIODICAL PRESS)

The article examines the change in the political orientation of the Catholic and Orthodox clergy of the Lower Volga region during the First Russian Revolution. The purpose of this work is to analyze the socio-political situation of the clergy in Russia, to comprehend church-state relations in the period under review, to identify the official position of the highest and ordinary clergy of the Orthodox and Catholic Churches on the changes in politics.
