This paper examines the current cultural controversy surrounding the concepts of "privilege" and "nepotism", as well as their linguistic representation in the form of the neologism "nepo baby", which made it into the shortlist for the 2023 "Word of the Year" competition (Collins dictionary). The study focuses on the pragmatic implications and extralinguistic factors that contribute to the use of this term in contemporary discourse, particularly in multimodal forms such as social media posts and memes. The analysis draws on examples from English, German, and Spanish texts. Additionally, the study identifies the main communicative tactics employed by participants in this cultural debate. This interdisciplinary research lies at the intersection of fields such as intercultural communication, sociolinguistics, and conflict studies.
