This article presents the results of an empirical study aimed at studying the characteristics of the internal maternal position of infants and young children with disabilities and children at risk, to offer options for psychological and pedagogical support for the dyad "mother - infant and young child with disabilities". The authors present the results of a study of the specifics of the development of the internal maternal position in the context of raising infants and young children with Down syndrome. The variability of the internal maternal position is considered, which consists of a combination of positive and contradictory experiences addressed to different aspects of the situation of raising a child and can be presented in four options. A possible model of psychological and pedagogical support for families raising infants and young children with disabilities is given, which is designed taking into account the characteristics of the internal position of the mother.
