EVOLUTION OF APPROACHES TO TEACHING FOREIGN LANGUAGES: FROM HISTORY TO INNOVATION

This article is devoted to the description of the main methods and approaches in teaching foreign languages. The main content of the study is the analysis of classifications of methods of teaching foreign languages, popular in various historical periods to the present day, their characteristics are represented in the material. The article focuses on the communicative approach, widely used today everywhere and focusing on a set of skills that enables any person to participate in verbal communication. In addition, the features, advantages and disadvantages of the communicative approach are described. Innovative technologies, widely introduced into the educational process, including the use of artificial intelligence, not only bring variety and enliven the educational process, but also contribute to increasing the motivation of students and, as a result, have a positive effect on the productivity of teaching foreign languages. The article raises the problem of choosing a relevant teaching method and concludes on the need to use a synthesis of time-tested traditional and innovative methods in order to improve the effectiveness of teaching foreign languages. The authors of the article note that a key role in choosing the most appropriate method and approach to teaching a foreign language is played by a teacher with the necessary competencies.
