COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF THE RHYTHMIC STRUCTURE OF ENGLISH AND ITALIAN SPONTANEOUS SPEECH

The presented article discusses the problem of speech rhythm. The features of the rhythmic structure of English and Italian speech are compared: the minimal rhythm structure, the intervals between stressed elements, and the duration of syllables. The research material was the spontaneous monologues of the native speakers of the languages studied. The experiment included perceptual and acoustic sounding text analysis. The comparative approach makes it possible to expand the understanding of the rhythmic typology of various language systems.
