The study of the initial stage of the Russian Civil War, especially the autumn events of 1917 in Petrograd and Moscow, is highly relevant, as these events determined the further trajectory and intensity of the armed conflict, leaving an indelible mark on the history of 20th-century Russia.
The main purpose of the study is to identify and describe the hotbeds of civil confrontation that arose in the autumn of 1917 in the largest cities of Russia, as well as to establish the causes and patterns of their formation, which had a significant impact on the subsequent development of the Civil War.
The paper uses methods of historical analysis, a comparative historical approach, methods of documentary research, as well as content analysis of historical sources.
The analysis confirmed that in the autumn of 1917, hotbeds of acute civil confrontation really formed in Petrograd and Moscow, which became the beginning of a large-scale Civil War. The mechanisms and dynamics of the spread of the armed conflict are investigated, and it is also shown how the early events of the autumn of 1917 set the stage for the subsequent tragic events of the Civil War.
Keywords:October Revolution, civil war, anti-Bolshevik protests, confrontation.
