Introduction: The problem of language preparation of foreign children for studying in Russian primary schools is becoming especially relevant in the context of the growth of migration processes. It is necessary to develop specialized approaches that take into account the psychological and age characteristics of preschoolers from migrant families.
Objective: Creation and experimental verification of the effectiveness of a comprehensive model of psychological and pedagogical preparation of foreign children for language testing upon admission to the first grade.
Materials and methods: The study involved 347 preschool children from migrant families and 94 Russian-speaking peers. The author's methodology for diagnosing language competence was used, including an assessment of phonetic perception, vocabulary, grammatical intuition and communication skills. Results of the study, discussion: The experimental group showed a statistically significant increase in language competence by 93.7% versus 38.5% in the control group. The influence of the duration of stay in the Russian-speaking environment and the typological features of the native language on the effectiveness of training was established.
