COMPILATIVE TRADITIONALISM IN THE FORMAT OF BYZANTINE HEALING PRACTICES

The article is devoted to the analysis of compilation within the framework of the tradition of Byzantine healing practices. It examines the role of traditional functionality in the transmission of medical knowledge from antiquity to the Middle Ages. The works of Galen, Oribasius, Alexander of Tralles, and Paul of Aegina are analyzed. The importance of compilation in preserving the medical heritage in Byzantine culture is demonstrated, and a conceptual view is proposed of the traditional format of healing practices in Byzantium, defined as compilative traditionalism.
