LEGAL KNOWLEDGE AS A FACTOR IN THE FORMATION OF CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE

Shishkova Elena Nikolaevna  (Postgraduate student, Senior Lecturer, Far Eastern State University of Railways, Khabarovsk, Russian Federation)

The study is aimed at a comprehensive analysis of the role of legal knowledge in the formation of civic activity of young people, which is an important scientific and social task in the context of building a legal state and a developed civil society. The goal is to analyze how legal knowledge influences the formation of civic activity of young people, as well as to identify the most effective mechanisms of legal education. The relevance of the study can be determined by several aspects. Firstly, in the era of digitalization and globalization, young people are faced with the need to navigate complex legal realities, the understanding of which determines their social and political activity. Secondly, the growth of youth initiatives and protest movements observed in recent years demonstrates both the need for legal literacy and its deficiency, which often leads to legal nihilism or, conversely, to ineffective forms of civic participation. Thirdly, state youth policy increasingly emphasizes legal education as a tool for the formation of loyal, but critically thinking citizens. One of the aspects of legal education is informing young people about the legislation concerning their rights and freedoms. An adequate understanding of laws governing civil rights, labor relations, consumer protection, etc., contributes to more active participation of young people in the life of society. This includes not only awareness of their rights, but also an understanding of responsibilities, such as compliance with laws and regulations. In order to develop civic activity among young people, it is necessary to create conditions for accessible and high-quality legal education, which will contribute to the development of active and responsible civic consciousness. This, in turn, can lead to more active and constructive participation of young people in the life of the country, their inclusion in the processes that determine the future of society.
