SOCIO-ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATIONS AND ETHNODEMOGRAPHIC PROCESSES IN THE ALTAI REPUBLIC AT THE BEGINNING OF THE POST-SOVIET PERIOD

This article examines the economic reforms and social transformations in the Altai Republic from 1992 to 2002, which led to the formation of a multi-structured economy and a new social structure in one of Russia's Siberian regions. It characterizes changes in the social structure of the mountainous region and the emergence of new social groups. The impact of economic reforms on the size and socio-demographic composition of the Altai and local Russian populations is determined.
