The study relevance is due to the growing role of foreign language communicative competence in the modern world. In the context of expanding international academic contacts, knowledge of a foreign language, especially speaking skills, becomes the key to future successful professional activity.
The research goal is to systematize effective formation of speaking skills in schoolchildren, being a component of foreign language communicative competence.
Objectives of the study are: consideration of the main approaches to the study of communicative competence; identification of the main characteristics of «speaking» skills in schoolchildren; as well as data systematization obtained during the study.
During the research the following methods were used: historiographical analysis of scientific literature; the formal-logical method; comparison, systematization, generalization.
Based on the results, the conclusion was made that the speaking skill is a necessary component of foreign language communicative competence for foreign language proficiency. For the successful development of this skill, it is necessary to use interactive methods and authentic materials. The development of speaking skill in a foreign language in schoolchildren allows to form the basis for confident command of foreign language speech in future educational and professional activities.
