The presented article explores the mechanisms of the influence of historical events on the origin of phraseological units (FE) in the German language, as well as the dynamics of their frequency in various historical periods. The empirical basis of the study was the German language corpus of the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences DWDS-Corpus. The FE analysis is carried out with an emphasis on reflecting in them the national-cultural specifics of the history, traditions and mentality of native speakers. The disclosure of the internal form and etymology of phraseologisms contributes not only to the effective assimilation, but also to an in-depth understanding of the German language in the context of its historical development.
Keywords:historical events, phraseological units, semantics, etymology, German, frequency, DWDS-Corpus.
