                        | | This article addresses the issues of epidemiology, pathogenesis, and clinical manifestations of such a frequent complication of diabetes as diabetic encephalopathy. The question of the need for early diagnosis of diabetic encephalopathy is discussed, since its later detection leads to social maladaptation and disability of patients. Several mechanisms of the formation of this complication are considered, among which special attention is paid to the theory of oxidative stress. Particular attention is paid to the pathogenesis substantiation of adequate medical correction of clinical manifestations by such groups of drugs as antioxidants, drugs that improve cerebral circulation, nootropics, neuroprotectors, neurotransmitters, peptides. The question of the need to create uniform algorithms for the provision of specialized medical care to patients with diabetic encephalopathy is discussed. Keywords:diabetes mellitus, diabetic encephalopathy, cognitive impairment, oxidative stress, antioxidants. | |
