COVID-19-associated hypercoagulation quite often leads to the development of venous thromboembolism (VTE), especially in hospitalized patients with any pathology. In Russia to prevent VTE in this group of patients, it is recommended to prescribe anticoagulant therapy, at least in prophylactic doses. according to the recommendations, direct oral anticoagulants in prophylactic doses. We conducted a retrospective study in a random sample of patients admitted to a hospital for treatment of patients with a new coronavirus infection, who had risk factors for VTE and received direct oral anticoagulants at a prophylactic dose at the outpatient stage. The control group included patients who had risk factors for VTE but were not receiving anticoagulants at the outpatient stage. Episodes of VTE in the form of deep vein thrombosis and/or pulmonary embolism were evaluated in patients. The results showed that the risk of VTE in patients receiving direct oral anticoagulants at the outpatient stage after hospitalization was comparable to the risk of VTE in patients not receiving anticoagulant therapy at the outpatient stage.
