This article provides an overview of the current literature on the problem of heart transplantation in patients with end-stage heart failure. Heart failure is a widespread syndrome, the general morbidity of which is constantly growing. The end-stage of this condition is characterized by resistance to optimal drug therapy and requires heart transplantation. The review covers key aspects of heart failure, the prevalence of this pathology in Russia and the world, the specifics of performing heart transplant surgery in patients, and an assessment of the effectiveness of this procedure at the present stage. A comparative analysis of statistical data on heart transplants performed in recent years has shown an increase in the total number of operations, a decrease in perioperative mortality, and an improvement in long-term survival in our country.
Keywords:heart; heart failure; end-stage heart failure; heart transplantation.
