Scientists and doctors strive to reduce the use of invasive and non-invasive diagnostic methods to a minimum risk of harm to health. Today, endoscopic procedures are an integral part of all surgical directions, they meet the main trend of medicine, moreover, they are a standard method in all areas of surgery. However, the history of medicine shows that laparoscopy had to go through many transformations, a significant number of stages, in which many great scientists and specialists took part in order to reach the current level. There are three periods in the development of endoscopy: rigid, semi-flexible, fiber-optic, and electronic.
