POST-PROCEDURAL OR LATE COMPLICATIONS ARISING FROM IMPLANTATION AND USE OF PORT SYSTEMS

Currently, the use of totally implantable venous port systems can improve the quality of life of cancer patients. Despite the existing complications, the totally implantable venous catheter is safe and convenient for long-term intravenous treatment. Possible complications can be prevented or controlled if the totally implantable venous catheter is installed by experienced endovascular surgeons. Low infection rates and normal physical activity are advantages when using port systems.
