This research paper examines the application of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) to monitor, measure, and visualize CO2 emission reductions in real time in industrial and environmental applications. Key challenges of using the Internet of Things are identified, including interoperability, data security, and system scalability. The paper describes the challenges that enterprises face when using IIoT: issues of interoperability of heterogeneous hardware and software, ensuring reliable security of confidential and critical data transmitted over networks, and the complexity of scaling systems to cover large enterprises or distributed facilities. The paper highlights the need for an integrated approach to IIoT implementation to effectively manage the carbon footprint.
