GROWTH DYNAMICS OF STEPPE MARSHMELLS (MARMOTA BOBAK MULL., 1776) IN POSTNATAL ONTOGENESIS IN INDUSTRIAL BREEDING

The article describes the growth patterns of marmots (M. b. bobak, Muller, 1776) bred at the Russian Sable experimental farm in Pushkinsky District, Moscow Region. The study focused on the growth of marmots during the periods from birth to the first hibernation and from awakening to the second hibernation. At birth, the mass of the marmots is 30 g. During the hibernation period (230 days), the body length of the marmots increased slightly (1.5 cm), and the body mass decreased by more than 20%. No sexual dimorphism in body length and mass was observed in marmots.
