The article is devoted to the problem of counteraction of Russian culture to the intentions of the globalists to destroy national-cultural identity of Russian society, pursuing geopolitical interests. It considers the antonymy of characteristics of Russian people’s spiritual mentality. It analyses the antonymous traits of Russian national character in terms of finding out potential opportunities for forming positive identity of Russian society. There is a comparison of both positive and negative traits of Russian national character. The results of this comparison allow outlining the further prospects of studying the influence of global informational processes on forming the positive identity of Russian society. The articles examines peculiar traits of Russian culture, which do not fit the traditional assessment and stereotypes regarding Russian civilization, but determine the unique position of Russia in world cultural space. The article may be interesting for the study of globalization processes, opportunities for intercultural dialogue, forming the common strategy of cultural development of Russian society and preserving the national cultural heritage.
