This article is devoted to the influence of Russian and Soviet art on Chinese art of the 20th - early 21st century. Particular attention is paid to the methods of teaching, which were adopted by the Chinese Academy of Arts, as well as the influence of the art of Russian realism on the development of modern Chinese art. Particular attention is paid to the description of the methodology of Russian artists P. P. Chistyakov and K. M. Maximov. It was based on their teaching methods that the Chinese system of art education was created. Russian methodology served as the basis for art education in China, and the artists' representations of Russian realism served as a means of expressing the spiritual meaning of Chinese traditional art.
