The article presents the results of an online study among adult users of social networks (N=507), aimed at studying the role of feedback in social networks on users' self-esteem. The study shows that positive feedback from the online environment contributes to the growth of self-esteem. At the same time, different types of digital feedback have different effects on global self-esteem and its specific components, namely self-liking and competence. The meaning of the obtained results from the point of view of sociometer theory is discussed.
