IMAGE AS A CULTURAL PHENOMENON

The article is devoted to the study of the category of image as a cultural phenomenon. The paper discusses key approaches to the definition of the concept from Antiquity to the present day from the point of view of cultural, sociological, philosophical and other approaches. Particular attention is paid to the concepts of the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. Based on the above studies, the author comes to understand the image as a dynamic cultural category.
