The article is devoted to the theoretical justification of the use of projective techniques in the study of the emotional sphere of adolescents with mental disorders. The topic of the article is updated, firstly, by the spread of mental disorders among adolescents, and secondly, by the difficulties in the process of studying them, especially within this category of subjects. The chronology of the development of projective techniques is presented, as well as their most complete classification. The author concludes that, despite the disadvantages of projective techniques (lack of structuring, subjectivism in interpreting the results), nevertheless, these techniques can be recognized as useful for studying mental disorders in adolescents, which is proved by long-term practice of using these techniques.
