THE IMPORTANCE OF CRITICAL THINKING IN THE PROCESS OF FORMING INFORMATION LITERACY: A SOCIO-PHILOSOPHICAL ASPECT

In the context of the development of the information society, critical thinking has become a key component of information literacy, ensuring the effectiveness of all stages of information processing: acquisition, evaluation, and application. The article examines the levels of critical thinking: empirical, theoretical, and meta-theoretical, as well as their role in the information processing process. Special attention is paid to the classification of information sources (primary, secondary, and tertiary) and the importance of a critical approach in selecting, analyzing, and using information. It is shown that only through conscious and reflective work with information can it be transformed into knowledge that is personally meaningful to the subject. The development of critical thinking is a necessary condition for the development of the information culture of modern people.
