The article is devoted to the peculiarities of value dynamics and the role of tradition in modern Russia. Objective: to identify socio-cultural features of value dynamics and the role of tradition in modern Russia in the context of globalization of the modern world. Objectives: to define theoretical and methodological approaches to the study of the dynamics of values and traditions in the context of the cultural and historical uniqueness of Russia; to determine the content and essence of the concepts of "value" and "tradition"; to identify socio-cultural factors that determine the value dynamics and the role of tradition in modern Russia. It is concluded that tradition is one of the mechanisms for the accumulation and reproduction of values as elements of socio-cultural heritage. The traditionalist-conservative and subject-axiological approaches are productive, which allow us to determine the value status of tradition in the transmission of values significant for the subject and society. Modern Russia is in a state of value crisis. The axiological space of Russian society is formed by ambivalent values of the "Russian world", values of Russian ethnic groups and Western values. In critical periods of society's development, the value dynamics are characterized by metamorphoses, which are characterized by multidirectionality, chaos and nonlinearity of changes. The role of traditions in the value dynamics of modern Russia is to ensure the sustainability and continuity of social development.
