The article is devoted to the analysis of the phenomenon of psychological well-being of the individual in the context of cultural transformations occurring in two dynamically developing and neighboring countries - the People's Republic of China and the Russian Federation. The author considers well-being as a complex and multifactorial construct. Particular attention is paid to a comparative analysis of well-being predictors in two countries that are currently in an active process of cultural and economic convergence. The work is based on empirical research, meta-analysis and official statistics, which allows us to draw reasonable conclusions about the cultural specificity and general trends of psychological well-being. The author emphasizes the need to develop an independent scientific paradigm in humanitarian psychology focused on national and cultural characteristics, rather than Western universals.
