THE MILITARY-POLITICAL ALLIANCE OF THE MONGOLS AND ARMENIANS IN THE 13TH CENTURY

The article examines the alliance between Armenians and Mongols in the 13th century, which became an important event in the history of both peoples. The union was determined by common interests, the Armenians sought protection from the Muslim states, while the Mongols sought to expand their territories. Special attention is paid to the role of Armenian princes such as Tsar Hetum I, Levon III and the Mongol khans Mongke and Hulagu in establishing alliance. The consequences of this alliance for the Armenian kingdom and its influence on the political map of the region are taken into account. The work highlights the importance of the Armenian-Mongolian alliance as a factor contributing to internal stability and international relations in the 13th century.
