The priority tasks of this society were the active development of Udmurt culture, the study of the history of the Udmurt and Finno-Ugric peoples, and the strengthening of friendship between the Udmurt people and other peoples of the country. In 1994, the religious community «Udmurt Rus» was separated from the society «Demen» into an independent organization, which considered its main task to be the integration of the Udmurt ethnic group on the basis of the revival of pagan prayers, the education of the young generation in the spirit of folk traditions. In 1990, another association appeared in Izhevsk – the Republican public organization of Udmurt Youth «Shundy»(«Sun»), which was later renamed the Udmurt Youth public organization (UYPO) «Shundy».The activities of this organization are aimed at supporting and developing the creative initiative of the Udmurt youth, creative workshops for their interests, identifying young talents and assisting in the training of specialists from among the Udmurt youth for industrial, scientific, cultural and other activities, activities for the revival of original national traditions, customs, rituals, etc.; organizing sports and cultural events.
