FEATURES OF 14-YEARS-OLD ADOLESCENTS MULTIMODAL PERCEPTION WITH MODERATE AND SEVERE MENTAL RETARDATION

Bormin Andrey Sergeevich  (Moscow City Pedagogical University)

The purpose of the work is to study the features of polymodal perception formation in the education of adolescent children with intellectual disabilities (moderate and severe degrees of mental retardation). Research base: State general education institution, Moscow "Special (correctional) general education boarding school No. 52". The sample consisted of 16 students of the 7th grade (7 "D" and 7 "G") with intellectual disabilities (mental retardation). The article is devoted to the problem of teaching children with varying degrees of mental retardation based on their polymodal perception. The theoretical and methodological base of the study was summarized; experimental work was carried out aimed at identifying the current profile of polymodal perception in students of a special (correctional) general school. It was determined that the leading polymodal perception profile of children with mental retardation is a disharmonious-inert profile with a predominant visual channel. The data obtained predetermined the need for correctional and developmental work aimed at forming a harmonious polymodal profile of students with mental retardation. For the effective implementation the structure of the developmental work system was introduced based on the following principle: when presenting "new" material, it is necessary to use the leading channel of perception (visual), then, verification and activation of knowledge should be carried out through inactive channels (auditory and tactile-kinesthetic). This approach assumes a consistent and accessible transition to a multimodal teaching system for children with mental retardation, which will contribute to the effective holistic idea formation of the surrounding reality.
