The article examines the main groups of problems that party workers and peasants had to face during the process of creating collective farms in the territory of the Kuznetsk Okrug during the implementation of the first five-year plan (1928-1932). Among such problems, first of all, the following stand out: insufficient political and explanatory work, mistakes and shortcomings on the part of the party leadership, lack or lack of necessary agricultural equipment, excesses in relation to the middle peasants, etc. The consequences of these problems are also considered. Statistics on the growth and development of collective farms in Kuzbass in the early 1930s are given. The novelty of the research is seen in the widespread use of previously unpublished party and state documents from the collections of the State Archive of the Novosibirsk Region.
