Against the background of profound adjustments in the world geopolitical pattern, the Russia-Ukraine conflict is expected to end through peaceful negotiations by 2025. After the conflict ends, Russia must seek new economic growth points to overcome existing economic difficulties and achieve its economic development goals and strategies. The "pivot to the East" strategy will be a key choice, and agricultural cooperation between China and Russia presents unprecedented potential and opportunities. This article studies agricultural cooperation between China and Russia and explores the pathways for Russia's agricultural transformation. The author believes that agricultural cooperation between China and Russia is a key entry point to avoid food supply chain risks and support the internationalization of the renminbi in China. For Russia, this is the main way to break sanctions and achieve economic transformation.
This article comprehensively applies various research methods such as historical analysis, comparative analysis, and geopolitical analysis. It intends to analyze the practical issues that Russia may face in the “Post-Conflict Era”.
The novelty lies in the author's comprehensive analysis of the challenges and difficulties faced by cooperation, including political system differences, by combining geopolitical factors. The feasibility of agricultural development in the Russian Far East and the potential for synergy in agricultural cooperation between China and Russia are elaborated. Insufficient infrastructure, geopolitical risks, and public opinion pressure are considered, and relevant approaches and suggestions for short-term, medium-term, and long-term development are proposed. According to the author, China-Russia cooperation in agriculture, especially in the Far East, will show extremely broad prospects, which is expected to form a complementary model of “Russian land + resources” and “Chinese capital + technology + market,” and will promote coordinated agro-industrial development. The main findings of the research can also aim to provide strategic vision and practical recommendations on China-Russia cooperation in agriculture, assisting both sides in achieving mutual benefit and win-win outcomes and building a more sustainable agricultural partnership between the two countries.
