AVAR KHANATE AT THE PEAK OF ITS POLITICAL RISE: THE PROCESS OF INTEGRATION INTO THE RUSSIAN EMPIRE (SECOND HALF OF THE 18TH - BEGINNING OF THE 19TH CENTURIES)

The article examines the strengthening of the pro-Russian orientation of the Dagestani rulers, which testifies to its political integration, using the example of the Avar Khanate. It is analyzed that the studied relationships depended not only on domestic political events, but also on foreign policy events in the Caucasus region. Based on a number of archival data, attention is focused on the socio-economic and socio-political situation in the Caucasus in the 18th – first half of the 19th century in the context of the integration of the region into the Russian Empire, which is important for the possibilities of comparative analysis of the development of regions in the period preceding their entry into the multinational Russian state. In conclusion, it is concluded that Russia's integration policy in the Caucasus and, in particular, in relation to the Avar Khanate, was considered in the context of the geopolitical interests and claims of Russia, Persia and the Ottoman Empire.
