Verbitskaia Ekaterina A.  (Postgraduate student of art history, Saint-Petersburg humanitarian University of trade unions; sound engineer and sound designer of Theater-Festival «Baltic House» )

A performance in a drama theater exists in the integrity of the visual and auditory, however, very little attention is paid to the problem of the sound design of the performance from the perspective of modern art criticism, which actualizes the research problem. The article defines a sound engineering score as a form of recording various aspects of creating a sound picture of a performance. It is noted that the sound score is a special system for recording the use of expressive means available to the sound engineer. It includes various elements (music, noises, dynamic range, sound movement in space, the use of microphones and effects) synchronized with the elements of the stage action (movements of characters, text cues). It is concluded that the sound engineering score serves to fix and then reproduce the sound picture and is an integral part of creating the artistic imagery of the performance.
