The subject of the study is the problem of the meaning of life in Russian philosophy of the late 19th — early 20th centuries. The desire for freedom in choosing a life path, and the assertion of the right to search for one's own meaning of life, self-realization in creativity and good deeds — these ideas of Russian philosophers turned out to be the closest today. Each person, in one way or another, determines his or her attitude to the question of the search for and presence of the meaning of life. Everyone, to one degree or another, seeks the meaning of the beautiful, vital, eternal, accessible to all. The meaning of life is a purely personal problem that is unlawfully interpreted in a social context. Each person is free to choose, generate his or her own unique life project. The meaning of life as a spiritual and moral problem involves an analysis of the deepest demands of the human soul, clarification of the ultimate structures of human consciousness, the relationship of natural, psychological and moral qualities of the individual.
Keywords:history of philosophy, meaning of life, Russian religious thought, man, society.
